The Martinez Trap Team is a competitive California Youth Shooting Sports Association (CYSSA)
program for boys and girls who are in 12th grade or younger. This program is a youth development
program that provides its participants with a positive, life-enhancing opportunity to participate
in a supervised shotgun shooting sports program, taught by certified coaches. We emphasize safety,
skill development, good sportsmanship – and fun!
Throughout the year, a series of “fun shoots” are held at various clubs.
Typically, several hundred competitors attend and shoot in five categories based on age and experience.
The format is 100 targets, 50 in the morning and 50 in the afternoon.
In June, there is a 200-target multi-day shoot for the State Championships.
In addition to the CYSSA “fun shoots”, it’s expected that Team Members will also have fun and
gain competition experience participating in the monthly Club Shoots at the Martinez Gun Club,
unless there’s a conflicting CYSSA shoot that day.
We meet, generally on Saturdays, from January through November.
Practice starts at 8:45 and lasts until 11:00.
There is a more detailed shooting calendar in the Martinez Gun Club Clubhouse.
Loaner shotguns are available, ammunition is for sale in the Clubhouse, or you can bring your own.
